ON-GOING PROJECTS
North Park Road Improvements – James Watters
MSA has completed cost estimates for the “frontage road” on the school property related to the roundabout
concept. This cost estimate was forwarded on to the School Superintendent for review and discussion at the
July School Board meeting.
MSA is developing an exhibit for recently disturbed land along North Park Rd. for coordination with State
Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) as part of the required environmental review process. Anticipate delivering
exhibit to SHPO in August.
MSA is currently reviewing the Transportation Safety Improvement Program (TSIP) funding application for its
applicability in securing additional funds for this project. Traffic Safety Improvement Program (TSIP) | Iowa
DOT
Highway 6 Concept and Cost Estimate – Ben Wilkinson
The Professional Services Agreement for this work was approved at the last council meeting and executed on
June 21, 2023. Under this contract, MSA will provide preliminary three-dimensional design for roadway and
storm drainage systems to develop a more accurate cost estimate. This cost estimate will be provided to the
IADOT in order to program the project as a reconstruction project. We are coordinating with the IADOT
regarding our preliminary plan to get cost sharing information pulled together. The DOT is discussing internally
with their structures group to determine recommendations. The plans are a work in progress. MSA is currently
waiting to get a better idea on some existing drainage structures for our estimate from IADOT and a complete
final check before submitting the plans and estimate back to the City.
Comprehensive Water System Evaluation – Clint Wienen
The RO pilot study is ongoing, and things are going very well to date. Up to this point, blend water from Wells
#3 and #4 have been used. Hopefully, Well #5 can be put into service soon so a blend water from Wells #4 and
#5 can feed to the pilot to avoid extending the pilot period.
Trail Connection between Roundabout and Parking Lot – Andrew Inhelder
Storm water calculations have been completed for this project in conjunction with the North Park Road storm
water calculations since the trail project lies within the same floodplain as the southern portion of North Park
Road. The plans are nearing 75% complete. Currently working with Bella Sala to determine allowable grading
near their existing sign on the SE side of the intersection. Once agreement has been reached on the sign, plans
will be finalized and sent out for bidding.
