ON-GOING PROJECTS
North Park Road Improvements – James Watters
MSA received the IaDNR permit for watermain extension on 9/23/24
Private utilities plan to relocate this fall. Workplans for relocation have been reviewed. MSA and City have
met with Linn County REC to begin utility relocations. Linn County REC will send invoice to City for
relocation. Relocation is expected to begin in December 2024
MSA met with representatives from SouthSlope to review relocation needs. SouthSlope has materials on
hand to relocate and can begin this fall/winter. MSA is reviewing relocation plan and will notify SouthSlope
when approved.
Easements for the project were secured and Project Development Certification Form will be submitted to
Iowa DOT Local Systems Bureau by Nov 1 so project can proceed to letting.
Project is scheduled for a Bid Letting date of Dec 17, 2024.
Highway 6 Concept and Cost Estimate – James Watters
MSA submitted comments on predesign agreement to DOT for their review/response in early Oct. DOT is
currently looking to see if bridge funding can be secured for replacement box culverts on the project. DOT
is also confirming that they are comfortable leaving sidewalk on north side of USH6 between Stephans St
and Kimberlite St out of the project. Adding sidewalk in this location would require retaining walls to reduce
impacts to surrounding parcel and utility owners. Costs for constructing these improvements would be at
City’s expense for sidewalk and retaining walls.
MSA delivered D5 Plans to ROW on Oct 4,2024.
On Oct 28, MSA met with District 6 DOT Project Manager and ROW Specialist from DOT to discuss ROW
needs for the project
MSA is awaiting report from DOT recommending replacement of areas of sidewalk along the corridor in
order to meet ADA compliance.
