AGENDA ITEM # K-8 AGENDA INFORMATION TIFFIN CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION DATE: October 31, 2025 AGENDA ITEM: Discussion and Consideration to Approve the Full-time Fire Chief Job Description and Proceed with Advertising for the Position and Council Action as Needed ACTION: Approval Background The City of Tiffin is preparing to advertise for a new full-time Fire Chief position. As part of this process, staff has developed an updated job description that reflects the evolving needs of the department and the community. The draft was reviewed during the October 31, 2025 work session and is now presented for formal approval. This position will serve as the executive leader of the Tiffin Fire Department, overseeing all aspects of fire suppression, EMS, rescue operations, hazardous materials response, and community risk reduction. The Fire Chief will supervise both volunteer and career personnel and report directly to the City Administrator. Recommendation Staff recommends approval of the updated Fire Chief job description as presented, allowing the City to proceed with advertising and recruitment for this critical leadership role.
