Resolution No. 2026-049 – A Resolution to Modify the City of Tiffin Fire Department Stipend Program to Align with the Addition of EMS Division of the Fire Department — I-1 [LATE HANDOUT]

Non-certified recruits or members are not eligible for this program. Members do not need to staff the station during this time rather they are signing up to be available to respond if a call is received. If a call is received and they do not respond, then the member will not receive the coverage stipend subject to consideration for extenuating circumstances from the Program Manager and Grant Administrator. Members must sign up for a minimum number of hours of coverage time as determined by the Program Manager, which will be pro rated based on a 24 hour day. For example, if a Firefighter II signs up for a total of 12 hours of coverage, the Firefighter II would receive a total of $75.00 ($150 / 2 = $75). If the Firefighter II signs up for 24 hours of coverage, then the Firefighter II would receive a total stipend of $150.00. Additional rules and restrictions apply. See SAFER Program Policies. General Disclaimer All SAFER stipend programs are limited to the amount available per SAFER year. All SAFER stipends will be distributed monthly based on actual member performance for the previous month, beginning with June 2023 (paid in July 2023). SAFER program stipends are not guaranteed. The Program Manager may cap or modify the number of available shifts or hours as needed. Department policies and guidelines may be modified at any time with approval of the City Administrator.
