Minutes-11/08/1978

Tiffin City Council met in Regular Session on November 8, 1978 at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall. Council members present: R. Sheridan, G. Potter, D. Madden, T. Morgan and J. Stratton. Also present: D. Buss, D. White, B. Murray, Jean Schwab, Bill Rogers, and Virginia Voparil. Mayor Formanek presiding opened the meeting to public forum at 7:34 p.m. Jean Schwab and Bill Rogers of the Coralville Public Library asked for the next fiscal year that Tiffin pay an extra $100/year which would bring Tiffin's contract with the Coralville Library to $300/year. Council did not see a problem in so doing, and asked that a binder be drawn up and presented to Council at the next regular meeting. Mrs. Voparil asked that Council come to a decision about acquiring the property next to the fire station. Motion not to purchase Voparil property made by Potter. Sheridan seconded and motion carried unanimously. Motion to approve the minutes of Oct. 11 Regular Meeting was made by Madden, seconded by Stratton. Motion carried unanimously. Sheridan made motion to approve Clerk-treas. reports. Potter seconded and motion carried unanimously. Motion was made by Potter to have City Attorney begin legal proceedings against the Lark Supper Club to correct the drainage problem of the parking lot on Main Street and the sidewalk. Motion seconded by Morgan, and motion carried unanimously. Potter made motion to approve request of Dave White and increase the wages paid to police from $5/hr. to $6/hr. effective 11/1 through 12/1/78. Sheridan seconded and motion carried unanimously. Motion was made by Potter to approve the following bills and receipts. Motion seconded by Stratton and carried unanimously. Motion to adjourn made by Morgan seconded by Stratton.
