AGENDA ITEM # K-7 AGENDA INFORMATION TIFFIN CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION DATE: May 29, 2026 AGENDA ITEM: Discussion and Consideration of Turnout Gear Personal Protective Equipment Dryer Cabinet for Fire Department and Council Action as Needed ACTION: Background The Tiffin Fire Department is requesting approval to purchase an ALPINE DRYERS Turnout Gear PPE Drying Cabinet. This equipment is designed to properly dry firefighter personal protective equipment (PPE) following cleaning and decontamination. Proper drying of turnout gear is an important component of firefighter health and safety programs. The drying cabinet helps maintain compliance with recommended industry standards, reduces wear caused by improper drying methods, and extends the useful life of the department's protective equipment. The unit is capable of drying up to six sets of turnout gear simultaneously and will support the department's ongoing efforts to properly maintain PPE after emergency responses and routine cleaning. The proposed purchase was not included in the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 approved budget; therefore, City Council approval is required before the purchase can be completed. This equipment represents a long-term investment in firefighter safety, PPE maintenance, and operational readiness. The cabinet will continue to serve the department for many years and can be relocated and utilized in a future fire station as departmental facilities expand. Recommendation Staff recommends approval of the purchase the Turnout Gear PPE Drying Cabinet. ATTACHMENTS: Quote 1
