AGENDA ITEM # K-2 AGENDA INFORMATION TIFFIN CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION DATE: July 16, 2026 AGENDA ITEM: Discussion and Consideration of the Purchase of an Enclosed Utility Trailer for Tiffin Community Events ACTION: Motion Background As the City of Tiffin continues to expand its community programming, staff has accumulated a variety of equipment and supplies used for events such as Tiffin Summer Social, REC Fest, Movies in the Park, Ice Cream Socials, holiday celebrations, and other community gatherings. Currently, these items are stored in multiple locations, including the Public Works building and the Parks maintenance shed. Prior to each event, staff must gather supplies from various facilities, transport them to the event site, and then return them to storage afterward. This process is time-consuming, inefficient, and requires valuable storage space within City facilities. Staff recommends purchasing a 2026 US Cargo 7' x 16' enclosed tandem axle trailer to serve as a dedicated Community Events Trailer. The trailer would allow event equipment to be organized and stored in one secure location, making setup and teardown more efficient while reducing the amount of storage space needed in City facilities. The trailer can also be branded with City graphics, serving as a visible asset during community events. Through the City's growing community event sponsorship program, staff has secured more than $30,000 in sponsorship donations from local businesses and organizations. These private sponsorship dollars are intended to enhance community events and support related equipment purchases. The proposed trailer is an appropriate investment that will directly support the community events funded by these sponsorships while providing a long-term asset for the City Recommendation Staff recommends approval of the purchase of a 2026 US Cargo 7' x 16' enclosed utility trailer in the amount of $6,595.00.
