Minutes of Regular Council Meeting, November 3, 1964 Present: Wayne Stratton, Ted Spivey, Glen Potter, Bill Bream Absent: Bill Verry OLD BUSINESS: Sewer: Proposed sewer ordinance was discussed and it was decided to set the tap-on fee for $250.00 at the present time, to be reviewed at the regular January meeting of each year. The ordinance will provide that all residences and businesses shall be connected with the system by September 1, 1965. The streets were repaired after a fashion. Generally the corrections on the poor roads are not so bad. Powers is going to send Glenn a letter. The last block of Main Street is soft. Water: After discussing it with the geologists, plan to put in three sand points and drill a well on the town property next to the Firehouse. This well can be used to fill the trucks and can pump into the water system if and when completed. It is necessary in order to test this particular water bearing layer that a 5-inch well be put in there and the drawdown be measured at certain distances from it. Two 300-foot distant sand points and one up father will be used. The well at the Tiffin Inn is in that layer and we would like to get permission to take the cap off and measure the water level fall. From the drop in water level, the geologists can predict the capacity of this water bearing layer. They have sent out a form to the five well-drilling companies to make a bid on what it will cost per foot to put in these sand points. They will receive these on Monday. They have analyzed this before and he said we should have a fairly good quality water and require only slight treatment. The other in the deep strata has sulphate and is very difficult to soften. NEW BUSINESS: Glen moved, Bill Bream seconded the motion to accept the following money: $90.00 . Clear Creek School (2 mos.) 250.00 . State Comp. (liquor license) 1484.86 . Johnson County Treas. The contractors were notified to put things back. Stratton said they did not straighten clothes pole. They did put in some soil, and dug the ditch out. Stratton was advised that the procedure would be to decide just what the damages are and this will be placed in front of the engineer and contractor. The council cannot make a decision on this.
