I-5 - Resolution 2021-034 - Approving Application(s) to Accept funds from Washington County Riverboat Foundation

RESOLUTION NO. 2021-034 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPLICATION(S) FOR THE PURPOSE OF RECEIVING BENEFITS FROM THE WASHINGTON COUNTY RIVERBOAT FOUNDATION WHEREAS, the Washington County Riverboat Foundation has grant funds available that target Community Development and Beautification, Economic Development, Arts and Education, Human and Social Needs; and, WHEREAS, Washington County Riverboat Foundation has a grant application cycle that ends on June 5, 2021; and, WHEREAS, the City of Tiffin, Iowa, (hereinafter “City”) is supportive of these targets for improvements to the community and County; and, WHEREAS, the City provides or will provide fire, rescue, and non-transport emergency medical services (hereinafter “EMS”) within the corporate limits of the City of Tiffin and to Clear Creek Township and Union Township, Johnson County, Iowa, as well as other communities pursuant to mutual aid requests or agreements; and, WHEREAS, the fire department is staffed by volunteer firefighters and emergency medical providers; and, WHEREAS, the City recognizes that fire, rescue, and EMS are essential services and desires to provide and deliver said services to the public; and, WHEREAS, the City seeks to comply with NFPA 1720 and other applicable standards, in addition to state and federal law; and, WHEREAS, the City is experiencing explosive growth and expansion beyond the capacity and resources the Tiffin Fire Association Inc. or City can provide to meet current and growing demands; and, WHEREAS, the City seeks financial assistance through public and private grants to aid in providing fire, rescue, and emergency medical services, and WHEREAS, one or more applications from the City of Tiffin, and/or from organizations with projects that will take place on municipal property, will be submitted to the Washington County Riverboat Foundation by the June 5, 2021 deadline, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Tiffin, Iowa, that by the City Council of the City of Tiffin, Iowa that the City of Tiffin authorizes the following grant applications to be submitted to the Washington County Riverboat Foundation for the June 5, 2021 application cycle: 1. Tiffin Fire Department – Improving Emergency Equipment and PPE 2. Tiffin Fire Department – Enhancing Operational Responses
