RE: 2024 International Fire Code with Amendments
DATE: February 28, 2025
Dear Mayor and Councilpersons,
I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for your continued support in promoting fire and life safety for our residents, as well as for individuals visiting or staying within our community.
The Tiffin Fire Department is proposing the adoption of the 2024 International Fire Code, along with amendments. This proposal reflects the department's diligent collaboration with neighboring jurisdictions, including North Liberty, Iowa City, and Coralville, to ensure consistency in fire code enforcement. The proposed amendments incorporate specific sections of the International Fire Code model language as part of the overall adoption process.
The new amendments include modifications to code sections introduced in the 2024 International Fire Code, which have been updated since the adoption of the 2021 International Fire Code by the City of Tiffin. A synopsis of these modifications is enclosed for your review.
At this time, no changes to the inspection fees previously adopted are being recommended.
Again, thank you for your support in the Tiffin Fire Department. Any additional information or questions on the 2024 International Fire Code with amendments may be obtained from the Tiffin Fire Marshal, Bill Erb at [email protected].
